It is also a term which causes angst as your search ranking can suffer if your website includes it. However, whilst many have heard the term and know it is bad news, not all know exactly what it means or what they should be doing to avoid it.
So in the interests of demystifying it, let’s get back to basics. What exactly is duplicate content? Why does Google care? How does it happen? And what can you do to prevent it being an issue for your website?
Google’s Definition of Duplicate Content
According to Google:
“Duplicate content generally refers to substantive blocks of content within or across domains that either completely match other content or are appreciably similar
