We use a straightforward web design process to get our clients from concept to delivery. Even the simplest web design flows through each phase of our web design process. This ensures that each website follows a standard process. We’ve found that there are far more negatives than positives to cutting out steps in this web design process. In terms of time and money, there is nothing more wasteful than to have to correct a component on your website after it goes live. More often than not, a change to one area means that the rest up the website needs testing to validate that the change didn’t remove functions or cause other problems. Cutting corners during the web design process usually does not save anyone money or time.
Step 1: Client consultation
The first step in the web design process is to complete an interview and initial client consultation. When you contact us, we’ll send you a form to complete to give us an idea about your own ideas.
HINT: When you use the form at the top of the page you’ll receive a free web graphic design along with your free web design quote.
During this client consultation, we work with you to develop the overall concept for your website design. Once we have agreed on the scope of your design, we’ll create a project plan, an important tool in the web design process.
Step 2: Draft and Initial web design with artwork
During the second step of the web design process, your website design team researches your competition, reviews your existing website, and completes what we refer to as design wireframes. These are sketches that show the framework of your web pages and how they link together. Some initial graphics are developed and we present you with a few draft web designs for review.
Step 3: complete a Proof of Concept website
In the previous step of the web design process you selected a web framework and some graphics. Now, we’ll put this together onto a development site so you can see how things work. You’ll be able to click on the menu bar and test navigation. It’s not unusual that we need to modify the design or artwork AND this is the time to do that. There may be special functions that we need to test to make sure they are working properly. We’ll add content to your site. Basically, in this stage of the web design process you have a mini-website playground. You can review it with your business partners and decision makers. Once you give the thumbs-up, we complete more quality assurance tests and prepare your site for launch.
Step 4: Launch
During this stage of the website design process we complete the core pages of your website and make it live. We’ll test links and make sure all is optimised for search engine indexing and visitor navigation.
Step 5: Review
This is the final stage of the web design process. We establish an ongoing maintenance plan to include additional pages and content updates. If it makes sense, we’ll plan for the next stage of website development, perhaps an ecommerce site. During this step website design team makes note of any lessons learned from the project. It’s always important to learn from our experiences so that we all can move forward.
